Surgery Holographs; Hurricane Matthew Relief: The Week at Duke in 60 Seconds

Duke researchers have developed holograph technology that will help doctors with complicated brain surgeries. Microsoft HoloLens goggles allow doctors to see a simulation of a three-dimensional image to help accurately insert catheters, among other uses.

Recently, Duke dance students got to learn from professional dancer Shayla-Vie Jenkins. Jenkins taught a master class and helped the students to restage Bill T. Jones’ Power/Full. You can see this performance and others at Duke Dance Program’s concert on November 18th and 19th.

The Duke community is responding to the devastation from Hurricane Matthew by sending medical teams and supplies to Eastern North Carolina. Units across campus are also collecting canned goods and donations, and the Doing Good in the Neighborhood campaign will give 10 percent of donations to relief efforts.

Finally, you can meet some of Duke’s new faculty hires in our series on Duke Today.
