Political Cartoon Fest; Lemur Center Symposium: The Week at Duke in 60 Seconds

Welcome to the week at Duke in 60 seconds.

Duke hosted a bit of Hollywood this week. Actors, writers, agents, and producers visited with students, attended classes and toured the campus before taking part in a panel on media and Jewish identity.

Coming up on September 22nd, Duke will host the 2016 Political Cartoon and Satire Festival. The 3-day event will include panel discussions, improv performances, live cartooning, workshops and exhibits on topics ranging from the election to House Bill 2.

The Duke Lemur Center is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. In honor of this milestone, a scientific symposium and gala will be held this coming week. Currently, 250 endangered lemurs of 18 different (really cute) species live at the Lemur Center.

Finally, North Carolina’s first hand transplant recipient is doing well and gaining use of his new hand, just months after his surgery at Duke Health.
