Show Us How You Spend Your #DukeTimeOff

Photo campaign returns for the holiday and winter season

From lounging lions in Kenya to a close-up of Bono during a U2 concert, Duke faculty and staff shared a variety of photos from their time away from work last summer.

With the holiday season approaching and the official start of winter on Dec. 21, Working@Duke invites employees to share a glimpse into their getaways and relaxed downtime and adventures.

From today through the winter months, employees are encouraged to join the #DukeTimeOff campaign by sharing photos showing how they use time out of the office to recharge and unwind. Over the summer, staff and faculty shared about 300 images.

As part of the campaign, Working@Duke will award travel-friendly coffee mugs to randomly selected participants.

Here’s how to get involved:

  • Share your picture using the #DukeTimeOff hashtag on Twitter or Instagram with a note about what you’re doing with your time away from work and why the vacation, hobbies or activities are important to you. Tag @WorkingAtDuke in your post on Twitter.
  • Post a photo and caption on Working@Duke’s Facebook page.
  • Share the picture via our online submission system.

Among the images Working@Duke received from its summer #DukeTimeOff photos was one from Hannah Beardsley, a clerkship coordinator in the Duke Law Career Center. In May, she went hiking at national parks in Utah, and saw snow-covered mountains in the distance while visiting Arches National Park.

“Time off is important to me because I love to travel,” Beardsley said. “I like to use my days off to visit someplace new.”
