As Judy Weaver looked through her Duke@Work employee profile and updated her personal phone number on file, a golden ticket appeared on her computer screen.“The ticket just popped up,” said Weaver, an appointment coordinator for the Duke OB-GYN Appointment Center. “I thought, oh golly, it must be my lucky day.” Weaver was one of two Duke employees who won a golden ticket during the “Check Yourself” campaign when 12,500 employees signed into their Duke@Work employee profile and updated information, such as phone numbers, addresses, and ethnicity and disability statuses. During the July 20 to 31 campaign, employees made 1,542 address changes, 1,298 updates to their ethnicity, disability and veteran status, and 570 changes to DukeALERT information. Golden tickets were hidden at random in the profiles of 10 Duke employees. Golden ticket winners picked from a variety of prizes. Weaver chose a $200 gift certificate for the Durham Performing Arts Center and plans to go with her 82-year-old mother who loves plays and musicals.“That’s something we’ll do between now and Christmas, just to make her life a little more special,” Weaver said.Leia Wright, a business manager with Aerospace Studies, was also a golden ticket winner. She saw a flash of yellow on her screen while she was updating her external mailing address. “All of that information is right at your fingertips,” Wright said of her Duke “My Profile” information. “Your flex account, your payroll rep, your profile summary, your OIT account services. You remember to check that everything’s good to go.”For her prize, Wright, a Duke alumna, chose an Employee Athletic Pass that includes two season tickets for football and four season tickets for women’s basketball.“I’ve been at Duke for the better part of 20 years, between being a student and an employee,” she said. “It’s good to be able to support my alma mater in athletics.”
