IT Alert: Inbound Calls to Duke Not Connecting

In case of emergency, call Duke Police at (919) 684-2444 using campus landline phone

Duke officials have received confirmation that incoming calls to Duke are connecting as expected. Additional tests and assessments are being conducted, but telephone operations appear to be back to normal.Please contact the appropriate Service Desk if you continue to have any telephonic problems.

Additional critical numbers have been restored with limited service. See the list below. In the event of an emergency, medical or otherwise, call 911.

Anyone experiencing a medical emergency should call 911. Any other medical calls can be directed to the Duke Medicine numbers below.

Workarounds have been put in place to provide limited phone service to several critical numbers referenced below:

The phone issue is related to network changes made by local carriers that are working to resolve the problems impacting regional area phone traffic.

Inbound phone calls to Duke are not currently connecting due to a carrier issue. Campus landline phones are working fully for internal and outbound external calls. External callers are currently receiving a fast busy signal that lets them know the call is not connecting.  In the event of an emergency, contact Duke Police using a campus landline phone at 919-684-2444.OIT is investigating the issue and will be posting updates to the IT Alert website.An “all clear” message will be sent via the DukeALERT text and email system once the issue is resolved.
