News Tip: Expert Available to Comment on New Jersey 'Smart Gun' Lawsuit

The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence filed suit Monday against the state of New Jersey in an effort to compel the state to enforce its 2002 "smart gun" law. The law requires only "smart" handguns be sold in that state.

An expert on crime and gun regulation, Cook has devoted nearly 40 years to researching the costs and consequences of widespread gun availability. He is the author, with Duke colleague Kristin Goss, of the new book "The Gun Debate: What Everyone Needs to Know" (New York: Oxford University Press, April 2014).
