Duke in Pictures: Miss America at the Campus Farm

Nina Davuluri, Miss America 2014, plants onions alongside Duke senior Sam Jolly during her visit to Duke Campus Farm Thursday.

The Duke Partnership for Service and Duke DIYA (Southeast Asian student group) arranged for Dauvluri to visit Duke and work on the campus farm during a community workday.  In September, Davuluri became the first Indian American to be crowned Miss America, but her title brought some hateful reactions. Duke students, led by Jacob Tobia, made a Youtube video, supporting Nina and taking a stand against the remarks. Davuluri said she was appreciative of the Duke student support and wanted to find a way of thanking them.

Below, Davuluri shares a laugh with students during a Q&A session at Duke Campus Farm.
