Duke in Pictures: Join #DukeSnowDay on Social Media

As the sun rose today, this statue of Washington Duke on East Campus, along with the rest of Duke, featured a dusting of snow from overnight flurries.

Some areas of Durham County received up to 1.6 inches of snow into the early hours of Wednesday morning, causing Duke officials to extend the university's severe weather policy until 5 p.m. today. All classes were cancelled and "essential service" staff arrived on campus to make sure buses, stores and eateries were available for Duke community members.

A full list of impacted Duke services can be found online, as well as a running blog updating Duke's emergency stats on the DukeALERT website. Duke community members can follow both sites for up-to-date information.

Faculty, staff and students on campus today are encouraged to snap photos and share Duke snow images on social media. Pictures can be shared on Working@Duke's Facebook page and posted on Twitter with a mention of @WorkingAtDuke.

Twitter and Instagram users can also tag photos with #DukeSnowDay to join other Duke community members posting images.
