Whether it's a tie, shirt, skirt or dress, Duke faculty and staff are encouraged to join students and alumni this Friday by wearing their Duke blue clothing to work.

It's part of an effort to rally community support behind the Duke football team, who host North Carolina State University at Wallace Wade Stadium on Saturday. The Blue Devils are coming off an Oct. 26 win against the then-ranked 16th Virginia Tech Hokies, marking the first time Duke beat a ranked team since 1994 and the first road win against a ranked team since 1971.

"With students and other members of the Duke community wearing Duke blue clothing on Friday, I want to encourage all faculty and staff to start a new tradition and do the same to show support for our student-athletes," said Kyle Cavanaugh, vice president for administration. "Employee support has been an important part of the success for the team and this is an easy way to show community unity."

Duke is currently 6-2 and poised to make consecutive bowl game appearances for the first time in program history. Kickoff for the Duke-NC State game is scheduled for 4 p.m. Employees can purchase tickets to this weekend's game at GoDuke.com or by calling (919) 681-2583.

For Duke fans who want to get a kick-start on this weekend's athletic excitement, the Duke men's basketball team will host a pep rally prior to their 7 p.m. tipoff against Davidson on Friday. The event is open to Duke employees and begins at 3:30 p.m. in K-Ville, outside the Wilson Recreation Center. For those who can't attend the game in Cameron Indoor Stadium, the Blue Devils will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
