Get ready to be inspired. The Duke Arts Festival runs through Nov. 3 with dance, music and visual arts. Alumni can sign up for the Duke Entertainment, Media, and the Arts Network weekend Nov. 1 and 2. The keynote speaker is alumnus Adam Chodikoff, senior producer for "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart."

Speaking of the arts, this is an artistic interpretation of the plight of endangered animals by graduate students Jamie Keesecker and Pinar Yoldas Yoldas.

In research news, a substance in breast milk that may protect babies from acquiring HIV from their infected mothers has been identified for the first time by Duke scientists.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was on campus recently to speak with Law School students and faculty about lessons learned serving on the nation's highest court.
