Traffic Advisory: Construction on Duke University Road

Work on new gas line expected to last until November

Motorists traveling along Duke University Road between Anderson Street and Cameron Boulevard may experience delays in the coming months.

Beginning July 15, construction crews will start the installation of a new natural gas pipeline as part of work for PSNC Energy Company to provide an improved gas supply to Duke. Driving along Duke University Road will be reduced to one lane in portions where construction takes place. Work is expected to last until November.

Work will begin at the Duke University Road-Anderson Street intersection and move southwest for almost one mile to Cameron Boulevard. Construction will consist of trenching in the roadway to install piping before rebuilding the road.

During construction, crews will be on hand to direct traffic. Construction is expected to take place during daytime hours but may require overnight and weekend work on an as-needed basis.
