Arrests Made In Vehicle Break-In

Two teens arrested on charges of larceny, possession of stolen goods and breaking or entering a motor vehicle

Officers with the Duke University Police Department have arrested two teens on charges of larceny, possession of stolen goods and breaking or entering a motor vehicle.

John Dailey, Duke's police chief, said officers made the arrests about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday after a Duke employee saw two males trying door handles on vehicles in the GC Lot at the Corner of Flowers Drive and Erwin Road.

"Through a robust response, we were able to find both of them and make the charges," Dailey said.

Dailey emphasized the role community members play in helping keeping Duke safe.

"We really appreciate the employee noticing something was wrong and making the quick call," he said. "Although we have numerous patrols out, Duke is big. We want the community to call when they see something wrong, suspicious or concerning."
