Farmers Market Canceled Friday Due to Tropical Storm

Market will return next week with fresh fruit and produce

The Duke Farmers Market will be canceled on Friday, June 7, due to heavy rains expected from Tropical Storm Andrea, which is expected to pass over central North Carolina on Friday.

Current forecasts project 2 to 4 inches of rain in the Triangle by end of day Friday.

Lauren Updyke, health education manager with LIVE FOR LIFE, the Duke employee wellness program, said the Duke Farmers Market typically attracts about 300 customers each Friday.

"We wanted to make a decision early to let our customers know so they wouldn’t get caught in the rain," she said. "We'll be back up and running next week, and we hope to see everyone out for some of the best local fruit and produce available in the area."
