Three N.C. Seniors to Receive Trinity Scholarship Awards from Duke

Three graduating North Carolina high school seniors will receive Trinity Scholarships from Duke University, which each carry a value of more than $220,000 over four years and cover most of the costs to attend the university.

Duke created the Trinity Scholarships with the support of its North Carolinian alumni to honor the university's origins as Trinity College in Randolph County, N.C.

These scholarships are awarded on a rotating basis to some of the most gifted students residing within specific geographic areas of North Carolina.

This year's scholarships and recipients are:

-- The Plato and Betty Wilson Trinity Scholarship has been awarded to Katherine Tate Cottam of High Point, N.C., a graduate of High Point Central High School in High Point, and daughter of Evelyn and Richard Cottam; 

-- The Robert Ketner Trinity Scholarship has been awarded to Zackery Wayne Reavis of Greensboro, N.C., a graduate of Western Guilford High School in Greensboro, and son of Tina and Roger Reavis; 

-- The Four-County Area Trinity Scholarship has been awarded to Lucy Elizabeth Laird, of Oak Ridge, N.C., a graduate of Northwest Guilford High School in Greensboro, N.C., and daughter of Patricia and David Laird.
