Traffic/Parking Advisory: Wednesday Funeral Service for Pelham Wilder

Campus travel will be affected by services at Duke Chapel

Motorists traveling on-and-around West Campus Wednesday morning and early afternoon should allow for extra travel time due to funeral services at the Duke Chapel for former faculty leader Pelham Wilder.

Wilder, a former university marshal and professor emeritus of chemistry who taught for more than 50 years at Duke University, died Saturday. Services for Wilder will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, although university officials note West Campus traffic may be heaviest between 9:45 and 11 a.m. and 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

To accommodate guests on campus, parking will be made available on the top level of Parking Garage IV (Bryan Center garage) as well as the Bryan Center Surface Lot and Duke University Road Lot #2 near Anderson Street. Parking spaces on Chapel Drive near Duke Chapel will be reserved for family, dignitaries and ADA accessible parking.

Duke community members who have permits for these locations will still have access to park.
