Vice President for Administration Kyle Cavanaugh has been reappointed to another five-year term, Executive Vice President Tallman Trask III announced today. The announcement followed a regular review of Cavanaugh's performance by a committee of faculty and staff chaired by Phail Wynn Jr., vice president for Durham and Regional Affairs.

Cavanaugh came to Duke in 2009 as vice president for human resources.  His title was changed to vice president for administration after he assumed management for Duke Police, Disability Management and Parking & Transportation. He also serves as the university's emergency coordinator.

Trask and the committee praised Cavanaugh for his "accessibility, clear communication style, energy, attention to detail, and thoughtful consideration of options."

"Kyle is an administrator with broad experience in areas that are critical to Duke," Trask said.  "He is a consummate professional and high performer who is highly respected by his peers and those who work for him."

Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., Cavanaugh holds three master's degrees -- in business administration from Belmont, in health promotion and exercise science from Vanderbilt and in special education from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He received his bachelor's degree in special, elementary and early childhood education from Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tenn.
