Harry Houdini and Henry Ford come back to life on stage at Duke this weekend. Student producer Nathaniel Hill, pictured, and Duke's student musical theater group Hoof'n'Horn presents "Ragtime: The Musical" opens today in Reynolds Theater in the Bryan Center.
Based on the acclaimed EL Doctorow novel, the musical looks at race and class issues in America's Jazz Age. The musical tells the story of three groups in America, represented by Coalhouse Walker Jr., a Harlem musician; Mother, the matriarch of a white upper-class family in New York; and Tateh, a Latvian Jewish immigrant.
