Traffic Advisory: Construction At Main-Broad Intersection

Overnight work will impact traffic beginning April 30

Upcoming construction as part of Durham's West Main Street waterline replacement project will force traffic adjustments next week at the intersection of Broad and Main streets.

Construction crews will work at the intersection of Main and Broad streets from 7 p.m., April 30 through 6 a.m., May 1. City of Durham officials noted that work may not be able to finish in one night, and if necessary, a second session of nighttime work will take place from 7 p.m., May 1, to 6 a.m., May 2.

During the work, Main Street will stay open to traffic, but the Main-Broad intersection will be closed. It will be the only portion of Main Street unavailable for motorists. Detour signs will be posted to provide alternative routes.

Additional information about the waterline replacement project is available on the City of Durham website. The project is expected to be completed by September 2012.
