Six Duke students stayed close to home during Spring Break
to take part in the annual "Dive into Durham" service Spring Break
project.

The students joined Duke staff members and volunteers from
AmeriCorps in a variety of service projects around the city.  The students met with city leaders, visited
local schools and toured some of the non-profit organizations that serve the
community's needy and homeless population.

Through discussions with staff at Genesis Home, the NC Food
Bank, Durham Habitat for Humanity and Urban Ministries, the students learned
about Durham's culture and history and considered how hunger, homelessness and
other key issues affect the Durham community.

The program is organized by the Duke Community Service
Center. For more information, click
