This week brings robots, seasonal events, the last Campus Farm Workday for 2011

Durham, NC - This week's picks for free things to do at Duke from the Working@Duke staff include seasonal celebrations, robots, homebuying tips and an opportunity to get your hands dirty at the Duke Campus Farm.

6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 5 

 Crop Circles Integrated Design Challenge . Come see robots created in the Fundamentals of Electrical and Computer Engineering class compete against each other to complete tasks such as light-detection and crash avoidance while navigating mysterious crop circles. The event is in the Fitzpatrick Center for Interdisciplinary Engineering, Medicine and Applied Sciences (CIEMAS) Atrium.

7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 6

The Duke Chorale Christmas Concert features seasonal selections in Duke Chapel by the Duke Chorale, as well as traditional carols for the entire audience to sing and stories and treats for children. Non-perishable food items will be collected for families in Durham.

12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 7

The Homebuying Seminar sponsored by Duke Credit Union offers helpful hints on getting pre-qualified for loans, choosing the right mortgage, the loan application and shopping for a dream home. The seminar is in the Searle Center, Conference Room E.

2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 8

Duke University and Duke University Health System staff and faculty are invited to mingle with friends and colleagues during the Duke Holiday Social in the Bryan Center Von Canon Rooms. Music will be performed by the John Brown Jazz Quartet, and light refreshments will be served.

10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 11

This is the last Duke Campus Farm Workday for 2011. Everyone is welcome, including children and those without any background in farming or gardening. The Duke Campus Farm is located at 5082 Friends School Rd. in Durham, directly across the street from Carolina Friends School in the Duke Forest.
