Editor's Note: Positive Reaction to '10 Days'

Duke Today editor Leanora Minai reacts to the response to the "10 Days of Duke Today" contest

The response to the `10 Days of Duke Today' scavenger contest has been phenomenal.

Thank you, Duke faculty and staff.

You
participated in eye-popping numbers over the past 10 days, sending
about 1,650 notes of feedback, 330 nominations for the Blue Devil of the
Week staff and faculty profile and nearly 600 ideas for stories you'd
like to see on the new Duke Today.

And that doesn't include more than 700 comments posted on the story about "10 Days of Duke Today."

"I've
been at Duke for 21 years and finally I have somewhere to go to get all
the info and news for employees," wrote Melcina White, a program
specialist for publications and creative services, whose comment is
among the nearly 700 posted with the story. "The site looks great and
very user friendly."

By completing daily tasks over the course of
the contest, you've grown more familiar with the new version of Duke
Today, which includes a "News" section and new "Working@Duke" section.
You now know how to customize news topics, submit news, post a comment
and upload a photo to our Flickr account, among other useful features.
And, of course, there's that one lucky iPad owner

But most
important, you've shared your voice. Your feedback has already made Duke
Today better. Some of you asked that dining venues in the health system
be added to the "Dining" area of the "Working@Duke" section. Done.
You've also told us you prefer the old way of searching the Duke
directory. We're working on that now.

Like we said, the
Working@Duke section of Duke Today is your community commons. It's where
you find daily news and information about benefits, services, programs,
policies - and the people who work here. But it's also where you can
share and contribute to conversations about happenings at Duke.

Since
the new version of Duke Today launched April 20, you've started or
joined conversations by posting comments on articles like "Enjoy
Discounts, Events During Duke Appreciation," a story about the annual
celebration for faculty and staff. The article drew eight comments,
including one from Marcie Sellars, a student account analyst in the
Bursar's Office: "It is great to work for an employer that really
appreciates their employees."

We sincerely appreciate and
thank you for your hundreds of story ideas, ranging from Duke's most
recognizable alumni to how Duke departments are using Facebook and other
social networking tools.

Thank you again for being an integral part of Duke Today.
