Throngs of excited students waved their hands in the air as
rapper Ludacris performed during the university's annual celebration of the
Last Day of Classes (LDOC) Wednesday night.

A student-run committee began planning the event last April.

"The event is 90 percent students," said Jordan Hale, Duke
student affairs coordinator. "I think the student committee did a great job in
putting it together."

Junior Betsy Klein, a member of the LDOC Committee, spent
the day doing everything from serving breakfast and facilitating a "Grease"
sing-a-long to handing out water bottles.

"I've been here since day one picking out the artist,
working on daytime programming and, now, making sure everything runs as safely and
smoothly as possible," Klein said. "Everyone's having a really good time."
