Sunday, May 1: Durham Earth Day Festival Featuring Bull City Open Streets

When: 12 noon to 5 pm

Where: Durham Central Park (201 Foster Street)

Bull City Open Streets will close the streets surrounding the Earth Day Festival from noon to 3 pm to promote biking, walking, and other activities. Free bike valet parking provided by Durham BPAC.

Wednesday, May 4: Bike Month Kickoff

When: 5 pm to 7 pm

Where: American Tobacco Campus (Blackwell Street)

Durham Bicycle Friendly Community Celebration and family-friendly ride

Saturday, May 7: Durham Greenway Ride on Derby Day

When: 10 am to 1 pm

Where: Starting at American Tobacco Trail trailhead (corner of Blackwell Street and Morehead Avenue)

A 27-mile leisurely, no-drop ride sponsored by East Coast Greenway Alliance and Carolina Tarwheels

Wednesday, May 11: Cyclist's Social

When: 5 pm to 7 pm

Where: Sunset Grille (5850 Fayetteville Rd # 101 or milepost 5.75 on the American Tobacco Trail)

Cyclists enjoy free food and giveaways. Free bike checks provided by REI mechanics. Sponsored by Durham BPAC.

Sunday, May 15: Ladies' Ride (men also welcome)

When: 6 pm

Where: Starting at Durham Bike Co-op (715 Washington St., lower level)

A nice cruise around the city, hosted by the Durham Bike Co-op.

Monday, May 16: Commuter "Bike Bus"

When: "Bus" leaves at 7:30 am

Where: From south Durham to downtown via the American Tobacco Trail, bus leaves from American Tobacco Trail parking lot (corner of Fayetteville Road and Southpoint Crossing Drive). Also join the route at multiple "bus stops" along the way.

Tuesday, May 17: RTP Bike to Work Week After Hours Event

When: 5 pm to 7 pm

Where: Serena (5311 South Miami Blvd, Suite A)

When: Riders will gather beginning at 6 pm, ride leaves promptly at 7 pm
