Haitian Author Edwidge Danticat to Discuss Writing About Tragedy, Feb. 15

Two of her books will be available for purchase on site

Haitian author Edwidge Danticat will read from her own work and discuss the ways in which writers in Haiti and throughout the Haitian diaspora have responded creatively to last year's devastating earthquake on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at Duke University.

Danticat's talk "Writing Tragedy, Writing Hope: Haitian Writers At Home and Abroad Respond to the Jan. 12, 2010 Earthquake" will be held at 5:15 p.m. at Smith Warehouse, Bay 4. The event is free and open to the public.

Danticat is a MacArthur Fellow and won a National Book Critics Circle Award, among many other distinctions. Two of Danticat's books -- "Brother, I'm Dying" and "Create Dangerously: The Immigrant Artist at Work" -- will be available on site for purchase.
