During a live webcast interview Friday, Jeffrey Greeson of Duke Integrative Medicine will give advice on healthfully navigating the holiday season

The run up to Christmas is often described as a time of excess, and that includes food. To help us navigate the season, Jeffrey Greeson, a clinical health psychologist at Duke Integrative Medicine, will take questions from online viewers about how to maintain healthy habits during the holidays. The live "Office Hours" webcast interview begins at noon Dec. 3 on the Duke University Ustream channel.

To submit a question for Greeson, in advance or during the webcast, send an email to live@duke.edu, tweet with the tag #dukelive or post to the Duke University Facebook page.

One of Greeson's tips for holiday feasting is to pay attention to the sensations of food as a way of interrupting unhealthy eating. "Notice the tastes and textures of your food," he said. "See the colors that surround you. Those small moments can break you from that reactivity and enrich your entire life experience."

In addition to his role at Integrative Medicine, Greeson is a licensed psychologist in North Carolina and an assistant professor in Duke's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.

Office hours at a university are times when professors leave their doors open for individuals to stop by and discuss issues such as current events and developments in their fields. Duke's "Office Hours" series aims to bring the expansiveness and sparkle of these conversations to anyone with an Internet connection and an interest in the ideas bubbling up at Duke. This semester, topics have ranged from world poverty and learning in a digital age to the theology of eating and the legal implications for brain science.

Viewers of Office Hours are invited to provide feedback by completing a brief survey.
