Professor honored for data compression

Professor Ingrid Daubechies has been awarded the 2011 Benjamin Franklin Medal in Electrical Engineering by the Franklin Institute. She has been recognized for her discovery of a data compression technique using compact wavelets. The innovation allows us to store electronic images on computers and phones.

Daubechies and the other laureates will be honored during the annual Franklin Institute Awards Ceremony and Dinner on April 28, 2011 in Philadelphia.
