Duke Facebook Friends Hit 20,000

It could be attributed to excitement over Duke's run in the NCAA men's basketball tournament, or overall enthusiasm for the many stories and events happening on campus each day. Either way, the number of fans on the Duke University Facebook fan page continues to grow, now reaching more than 20,000.

The fan count grows by nearly 800 new fans each week. This past week, fans commented on and "liked" posts on the page more than 1,000 times. Visits to the page last week also reached nearly 4,000. Some of the most popular posts relate to Duke's success in the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight basketball games, as well as a story about a valentine card that found its way to campus after 76 years.

Locally, fans from Raleigh top the list of the pages "most active" cities, followed by Fayetteville, Charlotte, Atlanta and Greensboro.
