Duke Chapel Extends Haiti Drive One More Day

Focus is on tents and medicines

Duke Chapel is extending a weekend drive for Haiti one more day, with donations closing at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19.

In response to the tragic earthquake in Haiti, Duke University Chapel is collecting supplies to ship to Leogane, Haiti, one of the outlying cities beyond Port-au-Prince where thousands have died and many others are in desperate need of health care. The focus is on contributions of either tents or medical supplies from the following list:

-antibiotic

-analgesics

-sedatives

-orthopedic supplies

-surgical supplies

-anything for anesthesia

-water treatment materials

-IV fluids

-dressing materials

-betadine

-anything else useful for trauma

-painkillers

-infant formula

-cloth diapers

This collection is sponsored by Family Health Ministries, a local organization that the Congregation and Duke Chapel have partnered with for the past six years to provide health care to those most in need in Haiti.

FHM will deliver these goods to Florida where they will be placed on a plane for delivery, not to the airport in Port-au-Prince but to a road in Leogane, now designated as an airstrip where supplies can be delivered.

If you would like to make a cash gift, the Chapel asks that you support Family Health Ministries directly at: http://www.familyhm.org/donations.htm.
