Duke Awards Alumni Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship

Award recognizes academic, personal achievements of children of alumni

Duke University has awarded incoming first-year student Jonathan Rhines Thielman of Birmingham, Ala. the Alumni Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship, which covers full tuition for four years plus a summer-abroad component.

 

 The scholarship, which has a value of more than $150,000, is sponsored by Duke's Alumni Affairs Office. The award recognizes the academic and personal achievements of children of alumni who also demonstrate financial need. The scholarship recipient is selected through the same process as all other Duke University merit scholarships.

Thielman is a graduate of Jefferson County International Baccalaureate School in Irondale. Ala., and the son of Abigail and Frank Thielman.
