Students Alerted to Walltown Shootings

Dear Duke Students:

As many of you are returning to the campus from Spring Break and celebrating Duke¹s victory in the ACC tournament I want to let you know about an incident that has come to our attention.

This past Thursday and Friday, two shootings occurred in the Walltown area of Durham -- specifically on W. Knox Street, near Berkeley, several blocks north of East Campus. The shootings appear to have targeted an individual who is not a member of the Duke community, and Durham Police are investigating them.

If you have any information about these incidents, please contact Duke Police at (919) 684-2444.

As always, we encourage you to use caution as you travel on campus and in the surrounding community. If you have any questions or concerns, please don¹t hesitate to contact the Dean of Students Office at 668-3853.
