Robert Redford will receive the inaugural Duke LEAF Award, for lifetime environmental achievement in the fine arts, in a ceremony at 2:30 p.m April 18.

Tickets to a live simulcast of the 2009 Duke LEAF Award presentation to actor Robert Redford on Saturday, April 18, are now available to the public through the Duke University Box Office at www.tickets.duke.edu.

Members of the public can request up to three seats for the simulcast, which will be held in Griffith Theater in Duke's Bryan Student Center. All seats are general admission. A $3 processing fee will be charged for each ticket to the simulcast.

Redford will receive the inaugural Duke LEAF Award, for lifetime environmental achievement in the fine arts, in a ceremony at 2:30 p.m. in Page Auditorium, during Duke's annual Alumni Reunion Weekend. Duke's Nicholas School of the Environment established the annual award this year to honor artists whose work inspires environmental awareness and stewardship in others. Redford was selected by the executive committee of the Nicholas School's Board of Visitors "for his unique and central role as an artist, his moving portrayal of the natural world as an integral character in his films, and his strong and effective environmental advocacy."
