Duke Chapel Hosts Talks on Handel's 'Israel in Egypt' March 26, April 1

Performance April 5 at 4 p.m.

Duke Chapel is presenting two lectures on George Frideric Handel's oratorio "Israel in Egypt" in advance of a performance of the piece on Palm Sunday, April 5.

The first talk, "History as Memory in the Book of Exodus," will be given by Carol Meyers, director of undergraduate studies in religion at Duke University. Meyers will speak at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, March 26, in 0012 Westbrook, Duke Divinity School.

The next talk, "Riffing on Freedom -- Expanding the Story of the Exodus," will be presented by Rabbi Michael Goldman, Duke University Jewish Chaplain, at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, in the Alumni Memorial Commons Rooms, Duke Divinity School.

Parking is available in the Bryan Center Parking Lot on West Campus.

The performance of "Israel in Egypt" is 4 p.m. Sunday, April 5, in Duke Chapel. Rodney Wynkoop, director of Chapel music, will conduct the Duke Chapel Choir, Duke Chorale and an orchestra.
