Duke in Pictures: Apples in the Garden

Ameerah Aguriah enjoys eating a large apple in front of the goldfish pond in Duke Gardens Thursday afternoon. She joined her brother Kush and mother Millie for a day out at the gardens, taking advantage of sunshine and comfortable temperatures in the high 70s.

Duke Gardens is preparing for two major events this month. One is a lecture tied in with the El Greco exhibit at the Nasher Museum of Art. International designer James Johnson will speak on "El Greco to Velázquez in Flowers" at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Gardens. In addition, it will hold its annual fall Plant and Crafts Fair with the pre-sale for Duke employees and Friends of the Gardens Sept. 26 and the public sale on Sept. 27.
