With inclement weather in this weekend's forecast, the Office of the University Marshal, which oversees commencement activities, sent the following email to graduating students about how best to monitor the status of commencement events:

Dear Graduates:

As Commencement Weekend draws near, we want to remind you about our inclement weather policy.

If there is severe weather or the possibility of severe weather on Saturday afternoon, the East Campus Reception may be cancelled (please note this is different than the information listed in the Calendar of Events -- there is no alternate indoor site). This decision will be made by 1:00 p.m. and notification will be distributed as noted below.

If the weather is severe or threatening on Sunday morning, a determination on whether to go ahead with graduation exercises in Wallace Wade Stadium will be made at 8:00 a.m. and notification will be distributed as noted below.

Diploma distribution ceremonies will be held as scheduled. Any departmental event planned outdoors also has a rain location listed in the Calendar of Events (http://www.duke.edu/web/graduation/calendar.html).

Cancellations will be posted on the Duke Today website at: http://www.duke.edu/today/ and a message will be recorded on the Duke Information Line at 919-684-INFO (919-684-4636).
