Power Lost Along Campus Drive, Part of East Campus

An animal wandered into an East Campus transformer Friday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. causing a power outage for almost an hour over part of East Campus and several buildings near Campus Drive.

The outage extended west as far as undergraduate admission, Development, News and Communications and Alumni House. Most of the outages were limited to the north side of Campus Drive. The parking gate to one parking lot behind Undergraduate Admissions also wouldn't work.

An official of Duke Facilities Management said the outage resulted from a problem with the transformer next to the East Campus small chiller plant.
