Duke Student Robbed Near East Campus

A Duke student reported being robbed of his wallet Saturday evening a block from East Campus, police said.

According to Durham Police, the student said he was walking from Brightleaf Square toward East Campus when he noticed he was being followed by a Toyota 4Runner that had its lights off. The student told police he turned on to Watts Street, and a short time later two men ran up to him and demanded his wallet. One of the men then struck the student in the face with a handgun, and the men escaped with the student's wallet, said Maj. Phyllis Cooper of Duke Police.

The student did not require medical attention, Cooper said.
