A reception Thursday, Feb. 1, 5-7 p.m. at the Mary Lou Williams Center for Black Culture celebrates the artistic talent of black students and staff at Duke.

The reception is for the exhibition "Images of Our Heritage," which features portraits of prominent black Duke professors John Hope Franklin and Samuel Dubois Cook. It also includes paintings and drawings with themes of music, family and self-reflection, as well as a photographic series "Faces of Duke." The exhibit runs until Feb. 9.

Student artists will honored at the reception: freshman Jesse Huddleston, senior Amber Mason and senior Iman Washington. Junior Ikee Gardner will recite her poem "Hands."
