Duke's New Search Box

Stronger search engine powers Duke Today, Duke home page

Duke's search box used to make you search separately for websites and directory information. No longer. The "new and improved" search box you see now combines both of these results on a single screen.

See for yourself by searching on the name of someone at Duke. The results will include the person's directory information as well as websites where his or her name appears. If you don't know the full name, you can enter partial information. For instance, typing J* Doe brings up all employees who fit that description. The more specific you are, the fewer results you'll receive -- which is helpful when searching on common names like "Smith."

The new search box is faster and more powerful than before, and Duke plans to keep improving it, such as by including departmental directory information. If you're an employee or other member of the Duke community, you might want to stop searching from the home page and, instead, make your searches from Duke Today, where you'll find the same search box with other useful material.
