Duke Athletics at Top of NCSA Rankings

List based on combination of athletic, academic performance

Duke took first place in the National Collegiate Scouting Association's (NCSA) third annual Collegiate Power Rankings for Division I universities. The list ranks universities on a combination of athletic and academic prominence.

Rounding out the top five were Stanford, Princeton, Harvard and Notre Dame. In addition, Duke ranked third in the overall SCSA Collegiate Power Rankings which compare all schools at the Division I, II and III levels.

In the 2004-05 campaign, Duke garnered five Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) tournament titles, three ACC regular season crowns, 15 teams competed in NCAA Tournament action, four teams advanced to the NCAA Final Four and three teams finished runner-up for the NCAA Championship. The Blue Devils had 30 All-America selections to go along with the women's golf team winning their third NCAA Championship, while sophomore golfer Anna Grzebien won the NCAA Individual title.

NCSA's power rankings are calculated for each school at the NCAA Division I, II and III level by averaging the U.S. News & World Report ranking, the U.S. Sports Academy Director's Cup rank (NACDA) and the student-athlete graduation rate of each school.
