Barred Forest Falcon
A barred forest falcon eagerly awaits release after serving the cause of science. The falcon had been captured in a "mist net" by researchers at the Las Cruces Biological Station of the Organization for Tropical Studies. After being weighed, measured and banded, the bird was released into the cloud forest, to continue his day's hunting.
"Postcards from Costa Rica" commemorates the organization's 40th anniversary. A full-length article on how its researchers and policymakers are helping to conserve tropical forests will appear in an upcoming issue of Duke Magazine.
