No. 19 Duke Ends Regular Season at No. 9 Princeton

DURHAM, N.C. – The No. 19 Duke rowing team ends its regular season Saturday with a dual event at No. 9 Princeton. The Blue Devils are ranked in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association/USRowing Coaches Poll presented by Popcock Racing Shells for the second time this season after checking in at No. 20 the week of March 21.

“Our training program has been coming together,” head coach Megan Cooke Carcagno said. “We've put in a ton of miles. I think we're starting to see the fruits of our labor, which is really exciting. If we race hard and put our best foot forward, we'll have a good time. This is another opportunity for us to go 2,000 meters down a race course and see what we can do against a great team. Our mission all year has been to close down the gap on these top teams. Saturday is another opportunity to do that.”

Duke will send its V4, 2V8 and V8 to race Saturday. Action on Lake Carnegie begins at 8 am with the V4. The 2V8 will race at 8:15 with the V8 at 8:30. The second segment of racing will begin at 11:30 with the V4, followed by the 2V8 at 11:45 and V8 at 12 noon.

“Everyone is figuring out what role they need to play during races, from our seniors down to our freshmen,” Cooke Carcagno added. “That just takes time and practice. You can't just come up and compete against top-10 teams without doing it a few times before. Every single time we go we get better.”

Following this weekend's dual, the Blue Devils will take part in the ACC Championship from May 13-14 in Clemson, S.C.
