PHILADELPHIA – The Duke track & field program wrapped up the second day of the Penn Relays in Philadelphia Friday, highlighted by another relay squad qualifying for tomorrow's finals.
Duke advanced its second relay team to Saturday's finals as the women's 4x200 squad of India Lowe, Madeline Kopp, MacKenzie Kerr and Maddy Price combined for one of the top preliminary times in the event. The quartet finished first in heat three, running a 1:37.57 for the sixth-best time in the competition. The team will run Saturday at 2:25 p.m. in the College Women's 4x200 Championship of America Invitational, followed by the group of Kopp, Kerr, Price and Teddi Maslowski, who logged its qualifying time yesterday, in the College Women's 4x400 Championship of America Invitational at 5:50 p.m.
Elsewhere on the track, the men's relay team of Chaz Hawkins, Matthew Rodio, Michael Wilson and Jordan Burton placed seventh overall in the College Men's Sprint Medley Championship of America Invitational with a time of 3:26.90, the fifth-fastest time in Duke history. The first three legs, with Hawkins and Rodio each running 200 meters and Wilson covering 400 meters, combined for a 1:33.67 split before Burton clocked a 1:53.23 anchor leg over the final 800 meters.
Maslowski served as the Blue Devils' lone individual runner, competing in the College Women's 100-Meter Hurdles preliminary heats. The redshirt senior multi-event athlete crossed the line in a preliminary time of 14.02, just two spots short of qualifying for finals.
