CARSON, Calif. – The Duke duo of
Christina Gibbons and
Toni Payne made their impact felt with the United States U-23 Women's National Team as camp closed Monday. The tandem scored all three goals as the U.S. squad took down the Republic of Ireland, 3-0, at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Carson, Calif.
Gibbons, who hails from Raleigh, N.C., started in the midfield and scored the first and third goals for the U.S., while Payne finished the second goal after starting as well.
The training was the first for the team in 2016 and was scheduled to close action Monday.
