DURHAM, N.C. – After practicing for the last two weeks, the Duke women's basketball team will take the floor in Cameron Indoor Stadium for the first time in 2014-15 hosting the annual Blue/White Scrimmage Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2:00 p.m. The game is free admission.
Head coach
Joanne P. McCallie is expected to have the team scrimmage each other as well as playing against the male practice players over a span of four quarters. Following the scrimmage, the entire team will sign autographs on the court.
The Blue Devils return one starter –
Elizabeth Williams -- and seven letterwinners in 2014-15, while welcoming the second-ranked recruiting class in the nation. Williams along with
Ka'lia Johnson,
Jenna Frush,
Amber Henson,
Oderah Chidom,
Kendall Cooper and
Rebecca Greenwell are the seven returning letterwinners for the Blue Devils. Greenwell, who is out of Owensboro, Ky., redshirted the 2013-14 season due to a knee injury.
The No. 2 recruiting class includes
Sierra Calhoun (Brooklyn, N.Y.),
Lyneé Belton (Clinton, Md.),
Erin Mathias (Pittsburgh, Pa.),
Azurá Stevens (Raleigh, N.C.) and
Mercedes Riggs (Salt Lake CC).
Following the Blue/White, Duke will host exhibition contests on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 6:30 p.m., against Limestone and Sunday, Nov. 2 versus Armstrong State at 2:00 p.m. All exhibitions are free admission.
Duke opens the regular season at Alabama Sunday, Nov. 16 at 8:00 p.m., on the SEC Network. The home opener will take place Nov. 23 as Marquette comes to town at 2:00 p.m.
