Boone Named ACC Offensive Back of the Week

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke quarterback Anthony Boone was named ACC Offensive Back of the Week after guiding Duke to its record-setting and ACC Coastal division-clinching 27-25 win over North Carolina Saturday afternoon in Kenan Stadium.

Boone, a 6-0, 230-pound redshirt junior, hit 23-of-34 passes for 274 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions in the win, which was No. 20 Duke's 10th of the season and locked up the Blue Devils' first ACC Coastal Division crown. He directed Duke's game-winning fourth-quarter drive, an 11-play, 66-yard jaunt that spanned 4:41 and resulted in a 27-yard, go-ahead field goal from kicker Ross Martin with 2:21 remaining.

Both of Boone's touchdown strikes went to wide receiver Jamison Crowder and covered 17 and seven yards. The touchdown passes were Boone's ninth and 10th of the season and gave him five scoring passes with zero interceptions over his past two games. Boone improved to 10-0 in his career as Duke's starting quarterback, including a 9-0 mark this season.

On the season, Boone has completed 157-of-237 (.644) passes for 1,695 yards, 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions while rushing 58 times for 192 yards and four touchdowns. He ranks third in the ACC in pass completion percentage and seventh in the ACC in total offense.

The ACC Player of the Week citation is Duke's 15th of the season and extends a streak of receiving a league honor in eight of the past nine game weeks. It is Boone's second award of the season, following the ACC Offensive Back of the Week honor he received following Duke's 35-7 win over Navy on Oct. 12.

Boone and the Blue Devils face No. 1 Florida State in the ACC Championship this Saturday, Dec. 7, at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C., at 8 p.m. The game will air live on ABC and the Blue Devil IMG Sports Network.
