DURHAM, N.C. – Four members of the Duke track and field team have advanced to the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 5-8. Each Blue Devil will be joined by the top 24 competitors in his or her event with hopes of being crowned NCAA Champion.
Redshirt senior Cydney Ross will compete in her third consecutive NCAA Outdoor Championship in the women's 800 meter along side freshman Anima Banks. Ross' top finish at the NCAA Championships came in 2011 where she finished eighth to earn first team All-America honors.
Redshirt junior Curtis Beach will also be competing in his third consecutive NCAA Outdoor Championship. The Albuquerque, N.M., native is seeking his first NCAA Outdoor title in the men's decathlon. Beach finished second in the event in 2011 and finished first in the heptathlon at the 2012 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Finally, redshirt junior Austin Gamble will compete in his second NCAA Championships in the men's discus. The former Duke linebacker last attended the NCAA Championships in 2010, also held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., where he finished 20th overall.
