Blue Devil Overseas Update

DURHAM, N.C. – Several former Blue Devils are performing well with their teams overseas this winter, Mistie Mims has scored in double-figures in four consecutive games for Union Lyon Basket Feminin in France. Krystal Thomas posted dominant stats during her campaign with the Jiangsu Phoenix in China, averaging 17.6 points per game and 14.1 rebounds. After starting the season with CSM Targoviste in Romania, Monique Currie is now playing in Spain, posting back-to-back double-digit scoring games in her first two contests with the Perfumerias Avenida Salamanca.

Karima Christmas
Maccabi Ramat Hen – Israel
2012-13 Stats: 18 games, 15.8 PPG, 9.7 RPG, 2.1 APG, 2.1 SPG, 0.7 BPG

Christmas is the leading scorer for the Maccabi Ramat Hen through 14 games this season, shooting the ball better than 50-percent. She is shooting well from beyond the arc, at a 29-percent clip, while grabbing 9.7 boards per game. Christmas has recorded a double-double in her past three games, including 18 points and 10 rebounds against Eletzur Holon in her last contest.  

Jasmine Thomas
Vologda Chevakata – Russia
2012-13 Stats: 14 games, 7.2 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 2.5 APG, 1.5 SPG, 0.1 BPG

Thomas has played a key part for Vologda Chevakata in Russia during the 2012-13 season, starting the majority of games. In her most recent outing, Thomas netted eight points while assisting on three baskets. She is currently second on the team, averaging 2.5 assists per game.

Black is also averaging a double-double for the season, with 12.1 points and 11.6 rebounds per game. She is second on her team in scoring, while shooting a team-best 50-percent from the floor. In a 69-61 loss against Ceyhan BLD, Black recorded a double-double with 17 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the floor and 12 rebounds, while dishing out four assists. In her most recent game, Black scored a team-high 21 points on 10-of-14 shooting and also collected 13 boards.

Union Lyon Basket Feminin – France
2012-13 Stats: 14 games, 15.6 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 1.1 APG, 1.2 SPG, 0.1 BPG

After missing the first four games of the season, Mims is the leading scorer for Union Lyon Basket Feminin, averaging 15.3 points for the year. In a recent game, Mims recorded a double-double with 12 points to go along with 12 boards. On Sunday, Mims came off the bench to score 16 points in 20 minutes of playing time. Union Lyon is in sixth place in the France-LFB league.

After signing to play in Poland, Beard has appeared in just eight games this season for the TS Wisla Can-Pack Krakow, while averaging 11.4 points per game. In her fourth game of the Polish League season, Beard scored a game-high 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the floor. She ranks fourth on the team in scoring for the polish league season. In the Euroleague, Beard is second on her team in scoring, averaging 15.5 points per game. Wisla Can-Pack Krakow lost in the second round of the Euroleague playoffs to Bourges, 50-38.

Currie played her first game of the season for Perfumerias Avenida Salamanca in Spain on Jan. 20. In her debut, Currie scored 11 points and grabbed eight boards in a 74-63 win over Rivas Ecopolis. In a contest on Feb. 10 against Uni Gorina, Currie scored five points, while recording 11 boards in the contest. In the first round of play in the Euroleague playoffs against the Good Angels, Currie netted 15 points to lead her team in scoring.

Sheana Mosch
Flammes Carolo Basket Ardennes ASPTT – France
2012-13 Stats: 9 games, 15.9 PPG, 2.6 RPG, 1.3 APG, 0.9 SPG, 0.1 BPG

Mosch has played in eight games this season for Charleville, averaging a team-best 16 points per contest. In a 67-56 loss against Landes, Mosch scored a game-high 27 points on 5-of-7 shooting from three. In her most recent game, Mosch scored 23 points, while recording a game-high eight assists as Charleville defeated Union Hainaut, 90-75.

Jessica Foley
Townsville Fire – Australia
2012-13 Stats: 25 games, 10.4 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 2.9 APG, 1.1 SPG, 0.5 BPG

Playing in her home country of Australia, Foley is the third leading scorer on her team averaging 10.4 points in 20 games played. In a game on Feb. 15, Foley netted 15 points, while recording seven boards in the contest. She is averaging 12 points per game over her past seven contest, while scoring in double-figures in 6-of-7 contests. 

Carrem Gay
Toulouse Metropole Basket – France
2012-13 Stats: 19 games, 9.4 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 0.9 APG, 1.7 SPG, 0.9 BPG

Gay is playing in the France-LFB league with the Toulouse Metropole Basket and is third on the team in scoring, averaging 9.9 points per game. Gay contributed 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting in a narrow 74-68 loss against Perpignan on Jan. 12.

Shay Selby

Selby has appeared in 12 games this season and is second on the team in scoring, averaging 13.3 points per game. In a 94-62 loss against Trutnov on Jan. 12, Selby was second on her team in scoring with 16 points, while going 6-for-6 from the line in the game. In a win over Pardubice, Selby scored 12 points in the contest .
