DURHAM, N.C. - Senior Juliet Bottorff earned Ronald McDonald House Charities Duke Student-Athlete of the Week honors Tuesday following a top-10 individual showing over the weekend at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational.
Bottorff led the women's cross country squad to a seventh-place finish among an elite field of 48 schools in Madison. The Newark, Del., native broke the 20-minute barrier for the first time in her career, clocking 19:55 for 6K to come in eighth overall.
As a team, Duke edged 15 nationally-ranked squads and four Atlantic Coast Conference opponents, propelling the program to the top ranking this week in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Southeast Region poll and a No. 11 ranking nationally.
Bottorff has now been the Blue Devils' top finisher in three meets on the season after recording a first-place performance at the season-opening Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational and a fifth-place effort at the Greater Louisville Classic.
The Duke women compete next at the ACC Championships Oct. 27 in Blacksburg, Va.
