GoDuke.com: What has been your proudest moment at Duke?
Chelsea Amsley: Definitely this past season when we beat Old Dominion. They were undefeated and ranked No. 1 in the country.
GoDuke.com: What has been your favorite part about being a Duke student-athlete?
CA: Between all the teams in the athletic department, coaches and players, it's like being in a family. I feel like every time I go do something, I'm always hanging out with people from other teams.
GoDuke.com: What has been your favorite class at Duke?
CA: I would say a film, video class with David Gatten. We watched a lot of foreign cinema so it was really cool to get a different perspective on life.
GoDuke.com: What has been your least favorite class at Duke?
CA: I took Chem. 31 and absolutely hated it. I changed my major.
GoDuke.com: When you first started to play field hockey?
CA: My mom played field hockey in college, but I never wanted to play because I didn't want to wear a skirt. I told her I never wanted to play. I tried it at a camp when I was in seventh grade and I loved it after that because I was good at it.
GoDuke.com: Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
CA: My parents have been huge influences for different reasons. My mom, she was an athlete, so she always wanted me to experience everything she had experienced. So she pushed me in all areas in the athletic world. My father was like the balancing act, he was more emotional support for me. So for where I am today, my parents have both been really big supporters and influences in my life.
GoDuke.com: What is your favorite midnight snack?
CA: Cook-Out milkshakes.
GoDuke.com: What sport other than your own would you play?
CA: Soccer, for sure. I was deciding which sport I wanted to play and I chose field hockey because I really wanted to come to Duke and had an opportunity to come here.
GoDuke.com: What is first thing you notice about people?
CA: Their clothing.
GoDuke.com: What kind of music do you have on your IPod?
CA: I like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jack Johnson. I don't really like rap that much.
GoDuke.com: What kind of embarrassing music do you have on your iPod?
CA: I guess Justin Bieber. I guess that would qualify as embarrassing.
GoDuke.com: Mountains or beach?
CA: I would probably pick the mountains. It is so hot when I go to the beach, that I just can't enjoy it. If it was cooler, like in the spring time, I might choose the beach.
