TULSA, Okla. – Junior Chris Mengel and sophomore Raphael Hemmeler each earned victories in their second round consolation matches at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's All-American Championships on Friday, as the Duke men's tennis team continued play at the event hosted by University of Tulsa.

In a decisive third set, Hemmeler defeated 12th-ranked Anthony Rossi of Kentucky 6-2, 5-7, 6-2, while Mengel posted a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Indiana's Josh MacTaggert, who was ranked No. 39 in the preseason rankings. The Duke teammates will play against each other in a quarterfinal match on Saturday.

Senior Henrique Cunha, the top-seeded player at the prestigious tournament, suffered a 6-3, 6-2 loss to No. 23 Emilio Gomes of Southern California in the third round of singles play. The Brazilian native now owns a 5-1 record during the fall campaign.

Hemmeler and Cunha, the 16th-ranked pair in the country, suffered a 9-8 (5) setback against Moritz Buerchner and Norbert Nemcsek of North Florida in the second round of doubles play.

The quarterfinals and semifinals are scheduled to be played on Saturday in the main draw and the consolation draw, as well as the semifinal round of doubles.
